Our Client has a requirement for a Senior Construction Manager, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Manchester with hybrid working available.

Role Purpose:

The Senior Construction Manager will act as the primary technical authority for construction activities, ensuring all site construction works are delivered safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved designs, programme requirements and contractual obligations.

Working as part of an Integrated Project Team, you will lead multidisciplinary construction teams, manage subcontractors and stakeholders, and oversee project delivery from planning through to testing and commissioning.

Job Role Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all site construction activities to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and within budget.
  • Ensure construction works are delivered in accordance with approved designs, specifications and project requirements.
  • Manage construction teams and subcontractors, ensuring competency, compliance and performance standards are maintained.
  • Coordinate with commercial, engineering, project controls and client teams to support successful project delivery.
  • Develop and maintain construction programmes, monitoring progress and implementing corrective actions where required.
  • Oversee quality, testing and commissioning activities to ensure programme milestones are achieved.
  • Lead construction planning activities including site logistics, laydown areas, access arrangements, welfare facilities, plant and material management.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, health & safety requirements and environmental obligations.
  • Produce and review key construction documentation including Construction Phase Plans, Pre-Construction Information and Safe Systems of Work.
  • Coordinate with all interfacing departments and stakeholders supporting construction delivery.
  • Manage construction delivery in accordance with established procedures and project controls, including CEMAR where applicable.
  • Develop effective communication routes and mechanisms for conflict resolution across project teams and stakeholders.

Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience as a Senior Construction Manager or Construction Manager delivering major capital projects.
  • Thorough understanding of construction contracts and delivery models.
  • Strong knowledge of CDM Regulations and construction health & safety management.
  • Experience delivering major new build construction projects.
  • Full project lifecycle experience including construction, testing and commissioning phases.
  • Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary construction teams and subcontractors.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of HSG65 health and safety management principles.
  • Experience within nuclear, defence, energy, infrastructure or other highly regulated environments desirable.
  • Knowledge of Nuclear Site Licence requirements desirable.
  • Experience managing crane schemes and lifting operations on highly regulated sites desirable.
  • Knowledge of CEMAR desirable.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related discipline.
  • IOSH qualification.

Desirable

  • NEBOSH qualification.
  • Master's Degree in Engineering.
